Orbitrek Elite and Magnetic Elite New Assembly Instructions Recall FAQs

1. Why is Thane conducting this Recall for the Orbitrek Elite and Magnetic Elite?

It has come to our attention that the placement of a spring washer is incorrectly described on page 5 (five) of the written assembly instructions included with the Orbitrek Elite and Magnetic Elite. If the spring washer is incorrectly installed, the connections may loosen and permit undue stress and bolt damage, which could pose a fall hazard to consumers. Thane is unaware of any reported injuries due to the improper placement of the spring washer.

2. How can I tell if my Orbitrek Elite or Magnetic Elite is included in the Recall?

All Orbitrek Elite, model number BK2080 and Magnetic Elite, model number BK2280 are subject to the recall. No other Orbitrek-branded elliptical gliders are included in this recall.

3. Are other Orbitrek models other than the Orbitrek Elite and Magnetic Elite included in the Corrective Action recall?

No. No other Orbitrek-branded elliptical gliders are included in this recall.

4. Has Thane received any reports of injuries?

Thane is unaware of any reported injuries due to the improper placement of the spring washer.

5. What is Thane doing to address this issue?

Thane is providing new assembly instructions to all consumers with an Orbitrek Elite or Magnetic Elite Elliptical Glider subject to this recall. Thane is directly contacting consumers with affected units and providing the new instructions, which can also easily be downloaded on this page.

6. Did the CPSC require Thane to conduct this recall?

No. we voluntarily notified the CPSC about the instruction issue and, in cooperation with the CPSC, Thane is providing new instructions to all consumers with affected Orbitrek Elite and Magnetic Elite models.

7. Can I continue to use my Orbitrek Elite or Magnetic Elite glider?

No. You should stop using your recalled unit until you inspect it and confirm that the spring washer is in the correct location. Thane is directly contacting consumers to provide new assembly instructions, which can also be located on and downloaded by visiting the Orbitrek Elite Recall page at www.thane.com.

8. How can I obtain new assembly instructions for my Orbitrek Elite or Orbitrek Magnetic Elite?

Thane is directly contacting consumers to provide new assembly instructions. The new instructions will automatically be mailed to the shipping address we have on file for you. 9. My Orbitrek Elite or Magnetic Elite appears to be operating okay. Can I continue to use it?

No. You should stop using your recalled unit until you inspect it and confirm that the spring washer is in the correct location. If the spring washer has been installed correctly; please perform all regular product maintenance by inspecting and tightening the bolts and lock nuts prior to continued use of the product.

10. What do I do if it appears that the spring washer has not been installed in the correct location?

If the spring washer has NOT been installed correctly; please disassemble the pedals of your product. Inspect the pedal hinge bolts and crank for damage. If the bolts and crank show no signs of damage or excess wear, reassemble the pedals following the new instructions. Should you notice excess wear or damage to the pedal hinge bolts or the crank, please contact Thane at 888-863-4003.

11. Can I get a refund for my Orbitrek Elite or Magnetic Elite?

No. Thane will provide new instructions to update the Instruction Manual that came with your Orbitrek Elite or Magnetic Elite. The new instructions will automatically be mailed to the shipping address we have on file for you.
